GIJÓN, AN EVENTS DESTINATION

The Gijón Convention Bureau has sponsored the annual assembly of the Spanish Event Agencies Association – AEVEA, which was held in a hybrid format. Sponsorship is one of Gijón’s strategies to position the city as a corporate events destination once the restrictions due to the pandemic have been lifted.

AEVEA brings together 70 of Spain’s most important events and communication agencies. During its annual assembly, Gijón made a presentation of the city, highlighting its offer as an events destination.

“Despite the situation in the MICE sector, with a difficult short-term future, it is important to continue working for long-term promotion. Liaising with event agencies, which are going through challenging times, enables us to be ready for the new event trends that will affect our sector when it reactivates with stronger competition than in the past”, said Daniel Martínez Junquera, director of Gijón Turismo, in a press release.
